Teen kills woman during suicide attempt

ATLANTA -- A lovesick 16-year-old girl crashed her car into an oncoming vehicle in a suicide attempt, counting down the moments before impact in text messages sent to the female classmate who spurned her, authorities say. The girl survived; a woman in the other car was killed.
The teenager, Louise Egan Brunstad, was charged Thursday with murder in the Oct. 4 wreck. "There was what might be described as a countdown to the actual event - 10, 9, 8 ... then the crash," District Attorney Paul Howard said.
Howard said it was unclear whether the classmate the messages were intended for responded to them or even read them, either as they were sent or afterward.
Authorities said Brunstad rammed her family's Mercedes-Benz head-on into a smaller car driven by 30-year-old Nancy Salado-Mayo, a mother of three. Salado-Mayo was killed, and her 6-year-old daughter Lesly, who was in a child safety seat, suffered broken ribs and other injuries.
Brunstad, who was treated for an ankle injury, had told friends she planned to kill herself after another female student at Holy Innocents Episcopal School refused to have sex with her, Howard said.
Witnesses told police the girl never slowed as she crossed over a turning lane and into oncoming traffic on busy Roswell Road in Atlanta's Buckhead neighborhood on Oct. 4.
"She was traveling at a high rate of speed," Howard said. "This is an intentional action."
Prosecutors said they intend to try her as an adult. If convicted, she faces an automatic life sentence.
The girl's attorney, Drew Findling, declined to discuss the allegations but expressed the family's sadness over the accident.
"This young lady and her parents are devastated by this horrible accident and by the death of Mrs. Salado-Mayo and the injuries of her daughter," Findling said. "They are praying for the quick and healthy recovery of her daughter and for the well-being of her husband and other children."
After a memorial service in Atlanta, Salado-Mayo's body was returned to her native Mexico for burial. Her husband, Mario Bibiano, a steelworker, was unable to attend because he remained by his daughter's bedside at an Atlanta hospital.
Brunstad was on crutches in court Thursday for a brief hearing. Her lawyer said she was released on bail Friday. Howard said the terms of her bail require her to enter a mental health facAccording to the Center for AIDS Prevention Studies at University of California, San Francisco, among injection drug users, women who have sex with other women have higher HIV rates than do women who have sex with men only. 41 New Counts Brought Against Man Accused Of Raping Boys Man Ran School Out Of Rocky River Home UPDATED: 4:38 pm EST December 21, 2005 CLEVELAND -- A Rocky River man accused of raping boys he taught in a school he ran from his home was indicted on dozens of new charges Wednesday. A grand jury indicted Phillip Distasio on 41 counts, NewsChannel5 reported. The man is now accused of sex crimes against seven more boys, ranging in age from 8 to 10. All of the boys have autism. Prosecutors say the attacks happened while Distasio was a teacher's aid for the non-profit Positive Education Program. Rocky River police said they confiscated a computer, software, child pornography and journals in which Distasio allegedly kept notes of the attacks. Distasio was originally charged with rape in September when allegations surfaced that he raped two young boys whom he taught in his Rocky River apartment. These two boys also have autism. Investigators said Distasio would frequent establishments along Detroit Road in Lakewood, where he would lure boys to join a group known as "Class Cutters." Distasio has a history of working with children that dates back more than 10 years. He now faces a 74-count indictment. If convicted, Distasio could be sentenced to life in prison. He is scheduled to go to trial in February. Sick predator claims "right" to have sex with boys | | Phillip Distasio "Not all pedophilia is bad, and sex [with boys] can be healthy." | Phillip Distasio, a 34 year-old man from suburban Cleveland is accused of sexually attacking nine disabled boys (one was under 13 yrs-old). Last week, Distasio told a judge that his apartment was a religious sanctuary where smoking marijuana and having sex with children are sacred rituals protected by civil rights laws. (Will the ACLU defend Distasio?)
Distasio is up on 74 charges of rape, drugs and pandering obscenity (pornography) to minors. BTW -- pedophiles used pornography to desensitize their young victims, and coax them into illegal sexual situations. The pornography used included video tapes of child porn, which were found in Distasio's apartment.
What is really scary is the fact that Distasio has a history of working with children -- dating back 10 years.
According to news reports, Distasio told Judge Kathleen Sutula, "I'm a pedophile. I've been a pedophile for 20 years. The only reason I'm charged with rape is that no one believes a child can consent to sex. The role of my ministry is to get these cases out of the courtrooms."
Distasio, a self-professed pagan friar, and is representing himself in court. He said he's the leader of a church called Arcadian Fields Ministries, and that some of his congregants are among the victims in his case.
Distasio not only kept a journal of his perverted sex crimes, but he also kept videotapes of himself engaging in sex with boys.
What is really very disturbing is the fact that some in our culture (liberals) want to normalize this sick criminal activity. There are small group of radicals who want to reduce age of consent laws, so that adults can engage legally in sexual activity with young teenagers.
Think I'm crazy? While last month I blogged about a Dutch Political Party which was formed specifically for pedophiles, here in America we have a group called the North American Man/Boy Love Association (NAMBLA) that opposes the use of age as the sole criterion for deciding whether minors can legally engage in sexual relations. It has resolved to "end the oppression of men and boys who have freely chosen mutually consenting relationships", and calls for "the adoption of laws that both protect children from unwanted sexual experiences and at the same time leave them free to determine the content of their own sexual experiences."
According to Wikipedia an undercover FBI investigation in 1995 discovered that there were 1,100 people on NAMBLA membership rolls. It is the largest organization in the umbrella group -- "International Pedophile and Child Emancipation."
Parents beware: Your children are the targets of groups of sick adults who will do anything to lure them away from your protection! This is a byproduct of a culture immersed in soft and hard core pornography.
But back to Distasio -- prosecutors said he could be sentenced to life in prison if convicted.
